A Lansing man has been charged with felony animal cruelty after killing a woman’s rabbit by putting it in a microwave, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers say they were dispatched to a gas station in Lansing October 24 where a woman alleged that Seth C. Decker, 24 of Lansing, N.Y. threatened to harm her pet rabbit and another person after an argument.

Decker reportedly went to a residence on Lockerby Hill Road where the rabbit and another person were inside. Decker placed the rabbit in the microwave, turned it on and threatened the other person in the residence.

Troopers arrived at the scene, where they found the rabbit deceased.

Decker was located October 25 in Locke, where he was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty. He was arraigned in town of Lansing Court. His next court date is October 31.
