Kelly Bellamy has not been teaching at Fairbanks Road Elementary in the Churchville-Chili Central School District for long, but she did not need an entire career to make a difference.
“Her energy radiates throughout her team, the entire 1st grade team gets excited about what Kelly is doing in the classroom, and then really with her students and when any of her students go into school, you can tell they’re excited about learning all day long,” said Todd Yunker, the principal at Fairbanks Road Elementary.
Domenic Longwell, one her former first graders wanted everyone to know how much her kids love her so he nominated her for a Golden Apple Award.
“She makes learning fun and she makes the whole class laugh and every day she’d be singing songs and when we’re stuck on a question on a test, she’ll make up a little funny song about and we’d have to try to figure it out from that,” Longwell said.
After receiving her award, Bellamy said, “I just love what I do every day. I love kids and I love people and I love making a difference and I feel like every single kid needs a cheerleader in their life and if that’s me and if they can take that with them as they go then that makes it worth it to me,” Bellamy said.
