Buffalo native and Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly has been arrested. Kelly, the nephew of Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly, was charged with criminal trespassing.
Early Tuesday morning, police in Englewood, Colorado went to an address where Kelly was reportedly standing outside. When they responded, Kelly was reported to be inside the residence.
Official documents say Kelly, who was uninvited, sat down on a couch and started mumbling incoherently.
I don’t know what the circumstances are where he ended up inside this residence,” Englewood Police Sergeant Chad Read said.
Officials say he was then chased out by another man who hit him in the back with an aluminum vacuum tube.
He was later found in an SUV near the Gothic Theatre.
Kelly was taken into custody without incident, charged and placed in the Arapahoe County Jail.
“We don’t treat this case any different than a person who was not a professional athlete,” Sgt. Read said.
Police are still investigating the matter.
The Broncos released a statement, saying ““We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning. Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information.”
