County Court Judge Thomas Rainbow Morse sentenced Jeremy Newton to 16 years in state prison and 20 years post release supervision for his August 7, 2015 conviction.

Newton was convicted of Rape in the First Degree, Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

On May 20, 2014, Newton attacked a woman as she was walking on Lyell Avenue near Saratoga Avenue. He forced the victim into his Chevy Silverado by threatening her with a replica of a Glock handgun. Newton then drove the victim to Colfax and Ferrano Street where he sexually assaulted her. After the attack, he let her go. He did not know the victim.
