If you had trouble e-filing your taxes Wednesday, you’re not alone.
In a statement, the IRS says it experienced a hardware failure that’s affecting a number of tax processing systems, and the problem could run into Thursday.
The IRS says taxpayers can continue to send their tax returns to their e-file provider, who will hold the returns until the e-file system is restored. Taxpayers who have already filed their tax returns do not need to take any additional action. IRS.gov is still functional, but some specific systems are offline.
The IRS does not anticipate this problem will result in any major delays in refunds.
