WALWORTH, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Maddox Stoughton sums up her 3rd grade teacher, Ellen Monroe, best.
“She is awesome she is the greatest teacher on earth, she is just absolutely, mind-blowingly awesome!” Maddox exclaimed.
Monroe teaches at Richard Mann Elementary in Gananda Central School District, always looking for ways to enhance education through technology.
“Communication with parents, communication with children, in this day and age it’s part of our world and she has always embraced it and challenged herself to learn more about technology and how to put it in an elementary classroom,” said Kim Ernstberger, Richard Mann’s principal.
News 8 first surprised Monroe’s fellow teacher, Chris Wallace, who nominated her.
“I think this is a great opportunity for a teacher that really deserves to be recognized, she’s a great teacher and she works very hard,” Wallace said.
Wallace and his class then marched into Monroe’s classroom to help with the presentation.
Asked where her passion comes from, Monroe responded, “It’s always something that I wanted to do and that I love doing so I love to see them take something they enjoy and take it to the next level so they are my passion really.”
