Football Frenzy: August 31, 2018


High school football is back in Rochester and there are plenty of points to go around! It’s the season debut of “Football Frenzy”!

Canandaigua 34, Webster Schroeder 8

Seth Vignari scored three times on the ground on just 14 carries for 64 yards to lead the Braves over the Warriors.

Canandaigua led Schroeder 21-0 at the half.

Braves improve to 1-0.

Wayne 35, ER/Gananda 34 F/OT

The Eagles jumped out to a two touchdown lead in the first half before East Rochester/Gananda made a furious charge back in the game. 

The Bombers took a 22-21 lead early in the fourth quarter, and led 28-21 with nine minutes remaining.

Grayson Zenelovic connected with Logan Blankenberg for the third time in the endzone to tie the game and send it to overtime.

ER/Gananda scored first in OT but only picked up six points. Wayne ran in the game-tying score and converted the point after attempt to win it.

Fairport 17, Hilton 3

The Red Raiders did not allow a single point in the second half.

LeRoy 48, Avon 13

Reece Tresco returned an interception for a touchdown and scored two more on offense for the Oatkan Knights. LeRoy scored the first 33 points of the game.

Webster Thomas 9, Churchville-Chili 6

Ethan Putney hit Dillon Moss late in the 1st quarter to give the Saints a 6-0 lead. After that the Titan defense took over.

Josh Jawaorowicz scored on a 1 yard touchdown run to give Thomas a 7-6 lead at halftime.

The Titans would pitch a second half shutout. Jabren Trammell had a big sack in the final minute to secure the win for Thomas.

Collin Hill caught eight passes for 76 yards for the Titans.

East Syracuse/Minoa 18, Honeoye Falls-Lima 8

Derek Childs caught six passes for 67 yards and scored the only Cougar touchdown on a pass from Turner Wilson.
