Extraordinary People: Model recovers from crash to walk the runway at Fashion Week

Rochester, NY (WROC-TV) - She was just 20 years old when she was seriously injured in a terrible crash.

The incident changed Madison Thesing's whole outlook on life.

There wasn't much left of her car after the crash, which happened during a snowstorm last winter.

"I started fishtailing. I lost control of my car and really pretty much just spun out into oncoming traffic and got hit by a big pickup truck.”

Madison is a model, but after she was told she had a broken pelvis and detached spine and she wasn't sure if she'd ever walk the runway again.

"This is either going to define me as a person and I'm just going to let this ruin the rest of my life and just be negative and wallow in my sorrows or I can stay positive.”

Thanks to her faith and her doctors she eventually got better.

"One doctor stepped forward Dr. Mesfin and looked at the x-rays and said I've done this once before.”

Madison says she never thought she'd walk again, but now she's walking the runway at Fashion Week of Rochester.

Laying in the hospital bed that was my main concern...besides walking again. I said I need to get better, I need to be walking in Fashion Week "

I will walk down that runway with pride and show off to everyone that anyone can do anything.”

Madison will walk the runway at Fashion Week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
