Susan Allen has announced her retirement form her position as the Superintendent of the East Irondequoit Central School District. Allen has held the position since 2005 but announced today that she will retire effective January 1, 2019.
In her over ten years in the position, Allen has been part of major changes in the district. One notable impact Allen has made was her implementation of a 1:1 initiative that provides every student with an iPad or laptop, making district a regional leader in digital education.
Allen also implemented the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at the Middle School and Eastridge High School. The program sets students up success and has a 100% college acceptance rate over the past two years.
Allen’s impact can be felt across the district. As she prepares to leave her position she said:
“When I came to East Irondequoit, I could never have imagined the transformation this district would undergo. Even with all the changes, one thing has remained the same, the incredible dedication and commitment shown by everyone here to make sure each and every student is provided with the best opportunity to succeed.”
