Two dealerships are offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that can help them make an arrest in a string of BB gun vandalism in Henrietta over the course of six weeks.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, there has been a rash of property damage at the Dorschel Automotive Group and Garber Automotive on West Henrietta Road, including broken windows that appear to have been shot out using a high-powered pellet gun.
We’re told there have been nine reported incidents in the case. The dealership owners say it started small.
“Initially, it was vandalism, it was eggs, it was — I don’t mean to make light of vandalism, but it was not anything of serious dollar value,” says Rick Dorschel. “It didn’t seem to threaten anybody’s life or limb.”
But, Dorschel says the vandalism has become more brazen, with incidents that have occurred during daylight hours and during work hours.
“Employees and customers should not be exposed to the potential for being hit by a drive-by,” he adds, saying the BB gun shootings appear to be drive-by incidents.
“The eggs were a big inconvenience, some knucklehead doing that,” continues Kevin Parker, Garber Automotive. “But when they start using the guns and they’re damaging our vehicles and our buildings — we’ve actually had to change our philosophy and move vehicles away from the road.”
Again, the two dealerships are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
