Catholic schools week is underway throughout the country. In Rochester, students in kindergarten through eighth grade gathered at Sacred Heart Cathedral to celebrate.
Over 500 students attended the mass Wednesday morning. It was led by Bishop Salvatore Matano.
Anthony Cook is the superintendent of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Rochester. He says, “The National Catholic Educational Association message is communities of faith, knowledge, and service. So today, we’re really actually celebrating the community part of that statement, and having us all come together. And I think the skills that kids learn as part of a greater community include that service component, as well.”
The Diocese of Rochester operates 20 schools.
