Rochester street artist Dellarious designs first-ever Lilac Festival music poster

Lilac Festival

A popular Rochester street artist has designed the first-ever Lilac music poster.

Each year, the festival enlists an artist to design a poster to commemorate the festival. This year, organizers hired Mike Dellaria, also known as “Dellarious,” to create a second poster focused on the musical events for this year’s show.

Dellaria is best known for his recreations of popular historical figures, who are typically from Rochester, that are often found plastered to highway overpasses or electrical boxes across the Rochester area.

The poster created by Dellaria features Frederick Douglass statue holding a lilac plant.

A portion of the poster sale proceeds will benefit the Frederick Douglass Family Initiative, a national not-for-profit that recently moved its headquarters to Rochester in honor of their namesake.

Speaking with News 8, festival organizer Jeff Springut said, “The idea of bringing his message and thought process to younger people who can grasp on to that and learn from it appeal to them and appealed to us. thus we have this great band poster.”

The Frederick Douglass Family Initiative raises awareness of human trafficking.
