ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Firefighters from the Rochester Fire Department responded to a house fire on Avenue C on Saturday.

Officials said that a fire crew, upon arrival, found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the residence. The fire caused significant damage to the house and it can no longer be occupied.

Nobody was inside the house at the time firefighters arrived. Officials said four adults were displaced by the fire and Red Cross was at the scene to assist them.

“Initially we had a report of the occupant still inside, we conducted an aggressive interior attack and search, we did locate the person down the street at a friends house, and nobody else was in the house,” said RFD Battalion Chief Mark Albert.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by RFD.
