ROCHESTER, N.Y.(WROC) — The Rochester Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place Tuesday morning on Alphonse Street.

RPD said they responded to Alphonse St. for a ShotSpotter activation and found a man later identified as 35-year-old Rochester resident William Maddox in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a house.

Investigators said that Maddox appeared to have been sitting in the driveway for a while before some unknown individuals approached the car and fired into the vehicle.

RPD said the motive behind the murder is currently unclear, the house was a vacant property used as a location in drug sales.

No further details have been released yet. Police say that they are currently investigating the incident.
