ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating 200 years in service.

On March 8, 1821, the first county sheriff, James Seymour, was appointed.

The current sheriff, Todd Baxter said it’s an honor to serve during such a milestone year.

Officials say they will celebrate their 200th year by looking back at the office’s accomplishments.
