ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On Tuesday, the Villa of Hope opened a new program called Hope Place.
Hope Place will be a drop-in living room program run by certified peer support specialists. The goal is to provide a safe and comforting environment where guests can decompress and recover from trauma.
Those involved with Villa of Hope said this is a new way to connect with those facing similar issues. “For me to be able to get here and get away from home life is an excellent thing,” Chastity Benjamin, a client of Villa of Hope said.
“Dealing with two boys that have severe developmental disabilities is hard, and being a single mother — it’ll help a lot for me to be able to get away and be around other people that deal with the same type of issues that I am dealing with.”
The Hope Place program is available from 3 through 11 p.m., daily.
