If you look at Tom Malloy and say, “I know that guy and I didn’t know he’s an actor,” there’s a reason for that.
“Most of the parents at schools, they ask what I do, and I say I’m in the export business, because that’s not a lie, the movies do export,” Malloy said.
Malloy lives in Webster, NY for family, but he’s flown back and forth to L.A. constantly for gigs, like for roles in Law and Order.
When he’s here, he’s often working on his own movies.
You might remember Alphabet Killer, which ia based off a local serial killer.
It boasted a high-profile cast that included Timothy Hutton among other big names.
All of it was shot in the Rochester area.
While Malloy has found jobs for years, he sees his most successful days ahead.
“My dream my whole life has been a Best Actor Oscar, so it’s just a one film away, my next film is the next shot, almost like a batter getting up to the plate, first off, you have to get up to the plate, next you have to keep taking swings. I may be 80 and you’ll be wheeling me up, but I’ll never give up,” he said.
Acting has been a wild ride that started during high school New Jersey.
“I love it,” he said. “I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. I’ve created it myself. It gives me freedom and time and when you’re doing something you love, you’re never really working even though I work non-stop.”
Malloy has recently been working on a film titled #Screamers, which runs at Movies 10 (2609 W Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623) on April 6.
