While cold weather sticks in Rochester, other areas see spring

DANSVILLE, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - We're still dealing with very winter like weather here in Rochester. But not far from the city, some saw conditions much more appropriate for the season.

On Friday, Western New York was dealing with a temperature gradient. Meaning temperatures near the lakeshore communities were stuck in the low 40s, that felt in the upper 30s. While skies remained gloomy.

However, if you took a road trip just one hour south of Rochester to Dansville, you would see a lot of people walking around in T-shirts and sunglasses. The temperature was about 20 degrees warmer there. Closer to the state border in Wellsville, the temperature was rose into the upper-70s. In State College, PA, the high temp hit 86.

In New York City, it was sunny with temps in the 80s.

"It's about time, it's been a very long winter, I'm ready for it to happen every day," a Webster resident told us.

But with the possibility for ice this weekend, it may be a few more weeks before we'll be pulling out the T-shirt and shorts.

We spoke with doctors from Rochester Regional Hospital and they say if you're feeling low because of these gloomy conditions, try getting outside as often as you can. Staying active will not only help you feel better but keep your mind occupied.
