The WNY Flash conceded twice in the final 10 minutes of regulation, giving Seattle Reign FC a 2-1 road win at Sahlen's Stadium. The win culminates a whirlwind weekend for Seattle.
On Friday night, star goalie Hope Solo was arrested in Kirkland, WA for allegedly assaulting her sister and nephew. Police say the US Women's National Team goalie is being held without bail on two counts of investigation domestic-violence assault.
"Obviously we feel for her, we hope she's OK," said Sydney Leroux after the win. "We don't know anything. We hope everyone is OK. We're just rolling with the punches here."
The Flash took a 1-0 lead on the NWSL leading Rign in the 63rd minute with Samantha Kerr headed home a Vicky Losada free kick. Seattle leveled the scoresheet in the 83rd minute Kate Deines when she redirected a free kick from Kim Little. On the verge of stoppage time, Jessica Fishlock looped a ball over the middle to Sydney Leroux. The US forward lobbed the ball over goalie Lydia Williams for the game-winning goal.
Added Seattle head coach Laura Harvey: "At first we were concerned about her and then this morning it was a shift of mindset to making sure we concentrate on the game because ultimately that's what our job is."
The Flash fall to 5-7-2, Seattle Reign remain undefeated at 11-0-2.
