The Country Club of Rochester is proving to be quite the foe at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.

Elizabeth Wang was the only golfer in the 72-player field under par after the opening round. After 36 holes, Wang still leads, but is now over par like all of the rest. The 14-year old from San Marino, CA leads by three strokes at +1.

Christine Schmitt of Pittsford is the only local golfer in the field. The Mercy senior will be attending Georgetown University in the fall. She sits in a tie for 56th at +17.

The tournament will wrap up on Friday at CCR. Past winners of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship include In-Bee Park (2002), Paula Creamer (2003), and Morgan Pressel (2005).
