The unenviable task of following Mike Neer as the men's basketball coach at the University of Rochester will fall to a man who has been with the Jackets before.
Luke Flockerzi was an assistant under Neer during the 2006-07 season. Now, he's back and running the whole show.
Flockerzi says Neer offered only one comment for him. "That I'm able to have as rewarding as experience as he did at the University. I'm pretty confident that's what I'm hoping and I plan to expect," Flockerzi said. "He's given me a lot of advice over the years. It certainly helped structure who I am as a coach. But, I've had a lot of very good mentors."
Flockerzi was the head coach at Skidmore College the last three seasons. Last year, he went 16-10 and 9-5 in the Liberty League. The wins for a season and in conference tied school records.
Neer is leaving Rochester after 34 seasons at the helm. He ends with a career record of 563-328.
