Hall handled Chris Agostinelli 3 and 2 in the final match of the Country Club of Rochester Invitational Saturday afternoon. It was Hall's first win in the CCR Invite.
Agostinelli made a long birdie on the 8th to square the match, but found trouble on 9 and 10 which allowed Hall to win both holes with pars.
Each player won a hole midway through the back nine, leaving Hall 2-up for his second shot to the par-5 15th. He got a monster break.
The shot was left and ticketed for the hills on the short side of a green that sloped sharply away. It would have been a nearly impossible up and down. However, the ball kicked off those hills 90 degrees right and ended up on the green. A two-putt birdie gave Hall a 3-up lead with three holes to play. Each player conceded a bogey on the par-3 16th to close the match.
It was Hall's first event in Rochester after a freshman year at Texas that he felt could have gone better. The CCR offered a stern test to start the summer.
"I played Adam Condello which is a great player, John Kircher, Andrew Lane and then (Agostinelli), one of the strongest members here," Hall said. "It wasn't an easy match. I don't think I had one easy match which is how I want it. Its just fun."
Hall will tee it up again next week at the Monroe Invitational.
