Shorthanded Goal Lifts Schroeder By Pittsford

Matt Montgomery had himself a fine 3rd period as the Webster Schroeder sophomore scored twice in a 4-3 win over Pittsford in the Charron Classic at R.I.T.'s Ritter Arena.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Matt Impallaria and Joe Schuler. Pittsford leveled things up with goals from Connor Haims and Greg Weyl in the 2nd period.

Montgomery scored his first goal of the game in the first minute of the 3rd period. His power play tally made it 4-3 Schroeder, but the lead did not last long. Tim Foster scored on a breakaway for Pittsfotrd 3:42 into the 3rd to tie it up 3-3. Four minutes later, Montgomery intercepted a Pittsford pass near the WS blue line and scored on a shorthanded breakaway to give the Warriors the lead for good.

Schroeder goalie Ryan Beutel made 17 saves in the save for Webster Schroeder (2-1-0). Pittsford falls to 0-1-0.
