Riverhounds Bury Rhinos
The Rochester Rhinos lost to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 0:3 on Saturday, June 1st, 2013 in Highmark Stadium.
Riverhounds striker Jose Angulo scored the game winning goal in the 42nd minute, his strike partner Jhonny Arteaga scored in the 63rd minute, and substitute Ryan Kinne scored in the 88th minute for the home side. Pittsburgh goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap made one save to keep his third clean sheet of the season. Angulo finished with a goal and an assist.
Pittsburgh opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Riverhounds left midfielder Kevin Kerr pinched into the middle of the park and was able to pick out right midfielder Matt Dallman making a diagonal run into space at the top of the Rhinos penalty box. Dallman took a shot from 18 yards out that Rhinos goalkeeper Kristian Nicht was able to dive and parry onto the crossbar. Angulo was the first player to the rebound off the crossbar, and he finished to the near post from an acute angle to give the home side a 1:0 lead.
The Riverhounds doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute. Pittsburgh center back Andrew Marshall played a perfect driven ball onto the foot of Angulo who was out on the left flank. Rhinos right back Gabe Latigue did not give Angulo a lot of time or space, however the Riverhounds striker was able to play an inch perfect ball from the left sideline onto the head of Arteaga on the back post. The quality of Angulo's cross left Arteaga with a free header that he powered into the back of the net to give Pittsburgh a 2:0 lead.
The home side closed out the scoring in the 88th minute when Kerr made a good run down the right flank for Pittsburgh before he held the ball up to wait for runs to develop in the box. Kinne made a good supporting run at the top right corner of the Rhinos penalty area where he received the ball from Kerr. Kinne beat a Rochester defender, cut inside the penalty area, and then beat Nicht to the far post to give the Riverhounds their final margin of victory.
The Rochester Rhinos will host the Montreal Impact (MLS) Reserves in their next home match on Friday, June 7th at 7:35PM in Sahlen's Stadium.
