Rhinos Strike Early, Often In 3-1 Win

The Rochester Rhinos welcomed their cross-state rival FC New York to Sahlen's Stadium for the first time this season. Rochester received goals from Max Ferdinand, Kendall Jagdeosingh and Tyler Rosenlund propelling them to their ninth win if the season, 3-1 in front of 5,176 fans.

It didn't take long for the Rhinos to get on the board as Rochester scored their quickest goal of the season in the fourth minute to take an early one goal lead.  Tony Donatelli slid a ball to Jagdeosingh down low in the New York box. Jagdeosingh's driven ball across the front of the net was deflected by Ferdinand for his first goal of the season.
Rochester had an opportunity in the 11th minute however Andrew Hoxie's blast from 13 yards challenged but was swallowed up by Derby Carrillo. The early onslaught continued in the 13th minute as Ferdinand returned the favor setting up Jagdeosingh for his fourth goal of the season off a header and a
2-0 Rochester lead.

Rochester had the better run of play during most of the first half, however New York threatened in the 38th minute when their corner kick was headed just high over the crossbar.

Rochester added to their lead in the 40th minute when Rosenlund cut back inside the 18 driving a low hard shot that deflected and beat the 'keeper to make the score 3-0.

Moments before the first half ended New York cut into the Rochester lead when Kyle Hoffer's header beat Neal Kitson to make the score 3-1. Rochester appeared to increase their lead once again to three goals in the 61st minute however a second Jagdeosingh goal was called offside.

FC New York's bid to make a comeback didn't get easier when Josiah Snelgrove was ejected from the match for serious foul play in taking down Ferdinand in the New York end of the field.

Rochester will take on Orlando City next Saturday, July 16th on the road beginning at 6:30 p.m. The match will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.
