Bob Lilley is back as head coach after spending two seasons coaching with the Pennsylvania Selects youth club. He inherits quite a fixer-upper. The Rhinos missed the playoffs in 2013 for the first time in team history.
"It wasn't a good feeling. It was a terrible year," says Tyler Rosenlund, who will be playing his fifth season in Rochester. "Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Bob is a great guy to bring in to get us back to winning ways."
Lilley says that expectations are high. "This is not a rebuilding year in Rochester."
In 2010, he led the Rhinos to a regular season title. Both seasons in Rochester ended in the playoffs. Lilley took the Rhinos to the quarters in 2010 and the semis in 2011. He's made it clear to the Rhinos from day one that the same kind of success is expected in 2014.
"Everyone looks at... 'oh, you have to win.' No... to me, we're gonna win," Lilley says. "There's not a pressure associated. That's our job. That's my expectation. It needs to be yours or you're not gonna be here."
The Rhinos have preseason games on March 7th and 9th. The season opener in April 5th in Orlando and the home opener is Sunday, April 27th at 4pm.
