Legendary lacrosse coach Roy Simmons Jr. to receive honorary degree from SU

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A towering figure in the world of lacrosse will receive a special honor a week from Sunday.

Former Syracuse University coach Roy Simmons Jr. will be presented with an honorary degree during SU’s 160th commencement on Sunday, May 11 at the Carrier Dome.

Simmons finished his years at the helm of SU’s program with a 290-96 record.

Simmons was the first Division I coach to win six national championships.

He was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Feb. 8, 1992.
