Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The ACC Tournament will move north for at least two years in the near future, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Multiple reports had already surfaced indicating that the Atlantic Coast Conference was finalizing a move to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

The tournament will be played in Brooklyn in 2017 and 2018.

Previous editions of the ACC Tournament has been held at venues in southern cities such as Greensboro, NC.

The 2015 tournament will be held in Greensboro. It will move to Washington, DC, in 2016.

Although traditionally associated with Tobacco Road and the Southeast, the ACC has already expanded its footprint into the Northeast with the addition of schools including Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Boston College.

More details on the move are available on the ACC’s website.
