Oak Hill In Good Hands With New Head Pro

- The thermometer hasn't hit 60 in Rochester since early December but golf season is right around the corner.  At Oak Hill Country Club, the transition to a new club pro is already finished.

For the first time in four decades, Craig Harmon is no longer running the pro shop at Oak Hill.  New Club Pro Jason Ballard says no one could ever replace Harmon but he did just that on January 1st.

"This is a dream come true for me," Ballard says. "I know that following Craig Harmon is going to be a big stepping stone. He's been great... very open. We've been able to communicate and I'm able to ask him any questions that might arise."

Ballard is only 35 and originally from Southern California.  He credits his Grandfather for instilling his love for the game of golf at an early age.

Despite his young age, his experience speaks for itself.  He has worked majors including the Masters (the 7th of which he is attending this week) and the U.S. Open.  If and when another major comes to Oak Hill Country Club, Ballard is ready to take the responsibility head on.

"I know what to expect. I know how to anticipate those types of events. I hope we anticipate that tradition here at the club," Ballard says.

Ballard has been the assistant pro at more than one famous and well-respected club, including most recently Augusta National. The main reason Ballard was lured away from the site of The Masters can be summed up in two words: Oak Hill.

"It's a very powerful brand in the game of golf," Ballard says. "The club has been around for a long time. We have major championships and we're going to continue to have major championships."
