Wheatland-Chili dominant in state semifinal win

2 goals in each half send Wildcats to 2nd straight final

CORTLAND - With a pair of goals in each half, Wheatland-Chili showed determination and poise worthy of a defending state champion in a 4-0 win over Eldred (IX) in the Class D State Semifinal on Saturday at Homer High School.

The Wildcats will have to go through Poland (III) to claim a 2nd straight state title. Kickoff from Homer High School is set for 10:00am on Sunday, November 12th. The two schools met in last year's state semifinals, with W-C winning 2-0.

Lindsey Clar put Wheatland-Chili in front of Eldred 15 minutes into the game via a short corner kick. Less than five minutes later the lead was doubled when Hannah Callaghan blasted a shot from 30 yards that found the back of the net.

After halftime, Jenna LaMere returned a Travina Meeks volley to it's desired location for a 3-0 W-C lead. Niyah Rosado added one more goal to seal the result.
