Rush-Henrietta's track and field star, Lanae-Tava Thomas, chooses USC

HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - It was signing day at Rush-Henrietta High School. Lanae-Tava Thomas kept where she was heading a secret.

It was between Miami and USC, and she is heading to the west coast where she will join a top 10 nationally ranked program.

Thomas is a state champion and holds the junior national record in the long jump.

She said now that the signing is over, she can finally sleep, but she already has her goals set beyond the PAC-12.

"Ever since I've been here everyone has heard me talk about 2020 Tokyo so I would love to go to the Olympics," said Thomas. "They produced more Olympians than any other college I've seen so far. On the team there are two Olympic coaches, all the athletes are so academically beautiful and then athletically astounding, so it's just amazing seeing all that and I feel like it can prepare me the best that I can."
