Spencerport rallies to volleyball title

Webster - For the second year in a row, Spencerport is bringing home a volleyball brick.

The Rangers answered a first set loss with three straight set wins to beat Brighton 3-1 at Webster Schroeder Wednesday night.

The final set win was the toughest and the only one to go beyond 25 points. The Rangers won 27-25 when a Brighton kill attempt went wide.

Jack Falter helped the Barons to an early advantage. The jump serve specialist served out the final six points of the set in a 25-17 win.

The Rangers took a quick lead in set two with their own jump server: Josh Rabidoux. He helped Spencerport take the first six points of the second set and, eventually, build a 19-8 lead.

Spencerport won the second set 25-14 and the third 25-18 to get in position for the championship.

Next up for the Rangers are the state regionals Saturday. The match against the champion from Buffalo's Section VI begins at 1pm right back at Schroeder High School.
