Spencerport and Aquinas crowned co-champions

Wheatland-Chili wins second straight state title

CORTLAND - Girls Class A State Championship: Peal River(I) 2 Spencerport 2

Scoreless until the 74th minute, Tara Guilfoyle found the back of the net to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.

It didn't last long.

Two and a half minutes later, Erin Coykendall lofted a long pass ahead to Leah Wengender. She beat the last defender in a race for the ball, avoided the goalie, and scored on a wide open net.

With just over five minutes left in the second overtime, Guilfoyle gave scored her second goal of the night.

31 seconds after that, Wengender answered again. This time, the Spencerport junior scored from 22-yards out to tie it again.

After a scoreless third and forth overtime periods, Spencerport and Pearl River were crowned co-champions.

It's the Rangers 2nd straight state title.

Girls Class B State Championship: Westhill(III) 2 Aquinas 2

Alana Piano gave the Lil' Irish the lead 85 seconds into the game with her 170th career point.

Tied at 1-1 late in regulation,  Emily Cook's 35-yard free kick found the back of the net and Aquinas regained the lead with three minutes left in regulation.

A minute later Westhill tied 45 seconds later after the Lil' Irish failed to clear.

Four scoreless overtime periods and the two teams share the state championship.

It's the 5th state title for Aquinas and first one since 2002.

Girls Class D State Championshop: Poland(III) 2 Wheatland-Chili 3

Tied a 2-2 in the third overtime, Niyah Rosado's cross into the box was sent home by Travina Meeks to give the WIldcats their 2nd straight state championship.

Lindsey Clar gave Wheatland-Chili a 1-0 lead at halftime. Poland tied it in the second half before Hannah Callaghan scored to put the Wildcats back in front in the first overtime.

In the second overtime period Poland answered to force a sudden death third overtime.

It's the Wildcats third state title in school history. 

Boys Class AA State Championship: Half Hollow Hills West(XI) 0 McQuaid 6

Dominic Duncan scored twice and added an assist as the Knights finished their perfect season in style.

McQuaid led 3-0 at halftime and doubled it in the final 40 minutes. 

Adriano Margiotta also had a pair of goals and Justin LaFountain scored early in the second half.

The Knights capture their first state title in program history and become the first Section V team to win it since Penfield in 2004

McQuaid outscored their opponents 97-6 this season and finished with a 22-0 record.
