Instant classic at the 17th annual Rainbow Classic

ROCHESTER - Boys basketball:

Sutherland 63 Mendon 68 (OT)

Mendon led by 8 points with 1:30 left in regulation before Sutherland stormed back.

Josh Rosen scored 9 points in the final 90 seconds, including the tying lay up and free throw, to send the game into overtime.

The Vikings regained the lead in OT and Rosen's three-point attempt came up short in the final ten seconds. Mendon hangs on to win their 10th game in a row.

Kevin Ryan had a game high 22 points for Sutherland (11-1).

Matt Powers led Mendon with 20 points (11-1).

Over 30 thousand dollars were raised for the Golisano Children's Hospital.

Penfield 54 Rush Henrietta 68

Kailee White scored 25 points to lead the Royal Comets to their 9th win of the season. Shamire Broyld also added 25 points off the bench.

Isiah Preston had a team high 19 for the Patriots who well to 7-7 on the season.

Churchville Chili 65 Thomas 60

Andrew Mason had 29 points for the Titans but it was not enough as Marcellus James powered the Saints past Thomas.

James had 29 points and teammate Marcus Postell tacked on 11 more.

Wilson 61 NE Douglass 59

Jiahmere Mitchell scored a game high 28 points for NE Douglass but Wilson erased a second half deficit to pull out the victory.

The Wildcats opened the third quarter on a 10-0 to take the lead and hang on for the 7th win of the season. 

Robert Davis scored a game high 20 for Wilson.

Girls basketball:

Sutherland 39 Mendon 59

Trailing 11-10 midway through the first quarter, Mendon would close the half on a 23-5 run and never looked back.

Freshman Lexi Green scored 15 points for the Vikings.

Ellie Mooney and Alana Fursman both chipped in 11.

Ellie Pestorius led Sutherland with 17 points. 

Mendon improves to 12-0 on the season while Sutherland falls to 6-7

Rush Henrietta 34 Penfield 58

Makaila Wilson tallied a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds as Penfield improves to 12-1.

Nina Nesslbush finished with 11 points.

Rebecca Gregg had 10 points to lead the Royal Comets.

Arcadia 45 Irondequoit 44

The Titans won their 6th game in a row behind 13 points and 10 rebounds from Alyssa Ballou. Teammates Jazmine Darling and Krstina Geraci also finished in double figures. 

Alahna Paige had a game high 22 points as Irondequoit falls to 9-5

Aquinas 53 Mercy 58

Traiva Breedlove had a game high 25 points to power the Monarchs past the Lil' Irish.

Katie Titus grabbed 23 rebounds for Mercy, who improved to 7-2.

Kayla Jackson, Chanel Alexander and Erica Knapp all scored double figures for Aquinas (8-4)
