Victor Holds Off Batavia Notre Dame

Kevin O'Brien scored three goals and (4)Victor survived a wild second period to beat (13)Batavia Notre Dame 6-3 at Thomas Creek Tuesday night. 

O'Brien got Victor on the board first in the first period. Then, Ian Christman slapped home a rebound to make it 2-0 Blue Devils. 

The Irish responded a blur of goals. Mason Versage made it 2-1 with a power play goal. Less than a minute later, Spencer Misiak tied the game. Misiak put Notre Dame on top with his second goal three minutes after that. All three goals were wristers from the faceoff circle. All three were pinpoint shots. 

Batavia's lead did not last long. The Irish took back to back penalties and O'Brien scored his second while two men up to tie the game at three. Just 17 seconds after that, David Farrance unleashed a blistering slapshot that found the upper right corner to put Victor on top after two periods. 

Patrick Manning scored early in the third period to give the Blue Devils some cushion. O'Brien got his third goal in garbage time. 

The Blue Devils advance to Saturday's quarterfinals and will face (5)Spencerport. The Rangers handled (12)Batavia 5-2 on Tuesday.
