Lancers Pull Away To Beat Odyssey In OT

- Amanda Zaremski and Bre'Asia Johnson combined to score all 16 Eastridge overtime points as the Lancers got past Odyssey 60-52 in Irondequoit Friday night.

The fourth quarter was tight throughout and Odyssey hung in despite only one field goal in the final eight minutes.

Johnson hit a jumper with just over a minute remaining to put the Lancers up a point. Eastridge then made one of two free throws to push the lead to 44-42.

After the second free throw missed, the Lancers fouled Nicole Desimone while chasing the rebound with 14 seconds left. Even with Odyssey only in the one-and-one portion of the bonus, Desimone calmly buried both free throws to tie. Eastridge could not get a shot off before the buzzer.

It didn't matter.

The Lancers won the overtime tap directly to Zaremski with a running start toward the Leopards basket. She made the layup and put Eastridge up for good. Johnson hit a 15-footer against one free throw for Odyssey to make it a three point game. Zaremski followed with a three-pointer and a close game was firmly in the Lancers' control just 90 seconds into OT.

Zaremski finished with 19 points to lead all scorers, while Johnson added nine. They scored ten and six, respectively, in overtime. Jessica Campbell also had 16 points for the Lancers, including 12 in the first half.

Desimone led Odyssey with 13 points. Karissa Birthwright had the only Leopards' bucket in the fourth quarter and posted her usual thick stat line: 12 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks.

Eastridge ups their record to 10-3. Odyssey is now 7-6.
