It wasn't enough.
The Panthers rallied from an 8-4 deficit but lost to West Genesee 10-9 in the 5th overtime of their Class A state semifinal Saturday afternoon at SUNY Cortland.
Allie Panara scored with three minutes to play in regulation. That goal drew Pittsford within 8-7. Just over a minute later, Kelsie Schindler forced OT with the goal that made it 8-8.
Girls lacrosse mandates two full three minute overtime periods to start extra time. Caroline Cullinan scored in the first OT to put the Panthers on top. It looked like that goal might stand up.
Instead, Hannah Elmer gave West Genny a rally of their own after scoring a game-tying goal with 30 seconds to play.
The teams were scoreless through two more overtime periods before Lexie Meager finally got the game winner midway through the 5th OT.
Pittsford led 4-3 late in the first half, but West Genesee scored the final three goals of the first half and the first two of the second half to build their 8-4 lead.
The Panthers finish their season at 14-6.
