In their biggest game of the season, East High did not rely on their star point guard. Dontay Caruthers battled foul trouble all game long, but the Orientals have several options that are more than capable of carrying a heavy load.
Tommie Banks had 19 points and 21 rebounds and freshman Zion Morrison came off the bench for 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
East High took the lead early in the game and never looked back, amassing a 34-22 halftime lead.
East High also clamped down on defense throughout the game. McKinley shot 29.5% on 18-of-61 shooting. Keyon Johnson was the Macks leading scorer with 19 points. Varin Lenard had 15 for the McKinley as well.
The Orientals will take on Red Hook of Section IX at 9:00am on Saturday, March 15th from the Glens Falls Civic Center in the state semifinals.
