Batavia Notre Dame Romps To Championship

Jason Hart came off the bench to hit five 3-pointers, including three in the second quarter when (1)Batavia Notre Dame turned the game around and the Irish went on to beat (2)Jasper-Troupsburg 62-37 in the Class D1 final at Blue Cross Arena Saturday. 

Tim McCulley led all scorers with 24 points for Notre Dame while Hart finished with 15. Alec Covel added 11 as the Irish won their second sectional title in three years. 

Batavia ND trailed by seven after the first quarter, but outscored J-T 39-14 in the next two quarters. The Irish allowed 18 points in the first quarter, but held Jasper-Troupsburg to just 19 in the final three. 

Brian Guild led J-T with 11 points. Dalton Cady scored ten and Dylan Price chipped in with nine. 

The Irish move on to Tuesday's Class D state play-in game against Houghton, who knocked off RCMCS in the D2 championship by a score of 75-55. Houghton was the 7-seed at Class D2 and RCMCS was the 8th seed. 

Game time for the state play-in is 7pm at a site to be determined.
