Heidi Miller led Mynderse with 18 points, including nine in fourth quarter when the Blue Devils refused to go away.
The game was played at an atrocious pace. Not once in the second half did 60 seconds elapse between whistles. The teams couldn't go 40 seconds without a stoppage in the 4th quarter.
Avon led by three at the half, but Mynderse got the first four points of the third quarter. A Madison Hilimire baseline jumper gave the Devils a brief 21-20 lead. Avon re-took the lead, but Miller scored on a layup with just over two minutes left in the third to get Mynderse even at 25.
The Braves got six of the next eight points and had a 31-27 lead when Grace Brinkerhoff canned a long jumper early in the 4th quarter. However, Miller rallied the Blue Devils again with a short jumper and a layup to tie game at 31 with 5:23 to play.
Mynderse's miracle run finally ended here. The Braves went on a 9-2 spurt, capped by Mouw's steal and layup. They led 40-33 with 3:12 left. Mynderse got within three points a couple times after that, but never with possession and Avon made enough free throws to finish off the championship.
Avon will move on to the Class C state play-in game. With three sectional champions from Class C, there will be two playoff games. The first will be on Monday and the winner of that game will meet the third team on Wednesday for the right to play in Saturday's state quarterfinals. Teams, sites and times for those games are yet to be determined. Keshequa and Lyons are the other two Class C teams still alive.
