Tyler Kirton passed for 279 yards the three scores leading Kearney to a 38-23 win over Avon on Kings Highway Friday night.

Kirton finished the regular season with 32 touchdown passes, setting a new single season Section V record. The old record was held by Newark's Shawn Mizro.

JoJo Gause caught ten passes for 161 yards and the record breaking score for the Kings. Ardell Brown ended with 68 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also ran an interception back 98 yards for a touchdown late in the first half.

Kearney finished the season 6-1 and will play in the Class C sectionals next week.

Avon's loss was a season killer. Cuba-Rushford beat Cassadega Valley from Section VI and hopped over the Braves for the fourth and final playoff spot at Class DD. The Braves end the year at 4-3.
