The talk leading into the Class DD final between Red Jacket and Avon all centered around the Indians high-powered offense. That discussion quickly changed once the game got underway.

Avon's swarming defense kept Red Jacket out of the endzone until the fourth quarter as the Braves won the sectional title 14-6.

Red Jacket came into the game with an impressive 8-0 victory that had earned them the 6th ranking in NY. The Indians also were outscoring opponents 40-13 heading into this weekend's game.

The game was scoreless all the way until the third quarter. Avon QB T.J. Crye barreled through the line for a five-yard touchdown run to mark the game's first points. Later in the third, Jake Martinez punched it in from seven yards out to give Avon their 14 points on the game.

Red Jacket's touchdown came on a 34-yard pass to Zach Coyne from Tyler Liberty.

Avon will face Batavia Notre Dame in the Class D sectional final next Saturday, November 3rd at noon from Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester.
