- The Wilmot Cancer Center received a big boost in teh fight against pancreatic cancer.

Board members from the Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York presented a check to researchers. They have raised more than $75,000 so Wilmot researchers can better fight pancreatic cancer. They hope the donation is a step closer to preventing the disease.

"We can do a lot of work in areas that we otherwise wouldn't be able to focused on pancreatic cancer and understanding why it develops and get insights into new ideas about the treatment and detection," Dr. Aram Hezel said.

"Our goal is raising funds for pancreatic cancer which is was underfunded deadly underfunded because so many are dying annually from the disease," Mary Ellen Smith said.

The Pancreatic Cancer Association raises the funds through an annual Step Up To The Cure 5K walk.
