West Irondequoit School Budget Does Not Pass

- The West Irondequoit school budget was the only one defeated in Monroe County yesterday.  The Superintendent doesn't plan to make any changes before presenting the plan again to voters.

Superintendent Jeff Crane says the tax increase is needed to offset a dip in state funding.  The school board unanimously voted to offer up the same budget to voters next month, and hopes it will be approved.  Fifty six percent of voters approved the budget.  While that's a majority, it wasn't enough to pass it.  The district needed 60 percent of taxpayers to vote "yes," to approve a 3.9% property tax increase.
