Irondequoit, NY (WROC)- West Irondequoit Schools' sports programs have been heavily impacted by recent budget cuts.
The modified "B" sports programs have not yet been funded. Officials say as many as 400 kids played in modified sports programs last year alone, yet those kids may not be able to play sports at all this year.
The district's sports booster club president says that would be a shame.
"It's where all the kids get their start," explained Irondequoit All-Sports Booster Club President, Jim Brennan. "The great thing is, it's where kids can try new sports that they've never played before, and it'd be a shame if they can't do that this year."
The booster club is still raising money in hopes of funding those modified "B" sports programs. The club has until Tuesday to raise the funds.
