Urban League of Rochester receives $35,000 for Black Scholars Program

The Urban League of Rochester has announced it recently received 2 donations that will go towards its Black Scholars program. The ESL Charitable Foundation donated $10,000 and the Greater Rochester Health Foundation donated $25,000.

This is the second time in the past year the ESL Charitable Foundation has provided a donation to the Urban League. Last October, the foundation gave the Urban League more than $12,000 towards the Youth Intervention Program at Charlotte High School.

This is the second year the Greater Rochester Health Foundation has supported ULR.

The Urban League's Black Scholars program provides assistance and incentives to students in our area who achieve a GPA equivalent to at least a B average in high school. It also holds workshops in the spring and fall to prepare college-bound students and their parents for the process of getting into college.
