University of Rochester full-time-equivalent employment now stands at 22,451. That makes the institution the eighth largest private employer in New York State and the largest employer in Rochester.
A study by Center for Governmental Research found U of R has added 2,111 workers since 2012.
The U of R supports 50,300 direct and indirect jobs, $2.8 billion in wages and $160 million in sales, income and property taxes, CGR found.
Visitors to the U of R booked more than 24,700 hotel rooms.
The University of Rochester's employment includes the medical Center, Highlands at Brighton and Pittsford, Thompson Health, High Tech Rochester, Excell Partners and Visiting Nurse Service.
