For 12 years, Mary Beth Bastian has studied at the Draper Center for Dance Education in Rochester.  Five hours a day, six days a week, she practices the moves that she hopes will one day lead to a career in classical ballet.  "It's a lot of dedication and hard work, and you just have to love it to pursue it," she says.
Last month,  Mary Beth competed against more than a hundred dancers  in a world-renowned  ballet competition called the Youth America Grand Prix.  Mary Beth came in in the top 12.  Here at home, she's one of a few select dancers chosen to be a professional trainee with the Rochester City Ballet.
Mary Beth was recently accepted into the elite classical ballet program at Indiana University.  She'll study both dance and physical therapy.  School is her next step, but the stage won't be far away.
