Rochester Woman Accused of Stealing Meds From Elderly Patients

- A Rochester woman is accused of stealing medicine from elderly patients at a Pittsford care facility.  Forty two year-old Deborah Cleveland allegedly stole 650 narcotic pills for her own use.

The administrator for "Heather Heights" tells News 8 Cleveland was allegedly able to hide the theft by substituting other medications.  Eight patients, ranging in age from 66 to 98 years old, are listed as victims in court paperwork.  The thefts allegedly happened between September and October of 2013.  According to the felony complaint, Cleveland removed oxycodone, oxycontin, and other narctoic pills.  She allegedly replaced them similar-looking non narcatic medications.    Carrie Bardow, Administrator of Heather Heights, says the care facility took swift action, "Our residents are just like family to us.  We take a lot of pride in taking care of them and providing quality care for them so that's why we took immediate action in terminating her right away."

No residents were hurt by taking the other medications.  Cleveland is due back in court next month.
