Rochester Labor Day Parade Happening Tonight

- Rochester, NY (WROC)-  It's Labor Day weekend but the traditional parade in downtown Rochester is being held on a different day and time this year.  Instead of Monday, the parade is set for tonight at 6:30pm.

The city made the change because the drum and bugle corps world championship is being held this weekend at Sahlen's stadium.  In order to mold things around the drum corps schedule, and have them in the parade, it had to held tonight instead of Monday.  For labor unions across the area, the parade is a chance to celebrate and shed light on the work they do year round.

The parade starts on East avenue near Alexander street, then heads toward the Liberty Pole and then west onto Main street.  Eventually the route turns north on Plymouth avenue and wraps up there.
